Having the proper insurance in place is not only important for Queensland (Australia) businesses, but those who employ people in their own homes.
Did you know that those who employ a household worker need to take out an insurance policy? A Household workers insurance policy will cover individuals against the costs of compensating a household worker who may be injured while working for them.
Individuals can now take out and pay for their Household workers insurance policy online. By doing it online, they will save time, as it takes less than five minutes to complete the online application.
Current Insurance Period Runs until Dec. 31, 2014
A Household workers insurance policy is $50 for all or part of a two-year period. The current period of insurance is slated to run until Dec. 31, 2014.
Once an individual takes out their policy, they are covered for the cost of compensating a household worker they employ who sustains a work-related injury while working for them. These costs may include lost wages, hospital, medical and rehabilitation expenses and more.
Webinar Available on Liability and Quantum
Meantime, Queensland officials noted that they made available a webinar, offering a simple explanation on liability and quantum.
The webinar includes practical details regarding how employers can minimize their exposure when it comes to liability for common law, not to mention what information they need to be aware of. The webinar also offers education regarding the process for assessing quantum.
According to WorkCover Queensland Customer Services Manager Erin Leftwich, the webinar recording is now available and “I would encourage all employers to take the time to better understand liability and quantum.”
