The Workers' Comp Fraud Blotter Update a Selection of Interesting Cases Owner Charged With Failing to Provide Work Comp Coverage A Morris County paving company owner was indicted on a charge of failing to provide workers' compensation coverage, leading to the state paying nearly $254,000 in insurance coverage for one of his injured employees. According to authorities, a paving company worker suffered serious injuries in an on-the-job accident. He required surgery and a 3-month hospital stay. The company's failure to pay workers' compensation insurance over a six-year period resulted in the New Jersey Uninsured Employers' Fund paying to cover the injured worker's medical expenses. The owner, indicted by a state grand jury and charged with fourth-degree failure to provide workers' compensation coverage, could face a maximum sentence of 18 months in state prison and a $10,000 fine.
