Owner Alberto Rodriguez, his wife Maria, and Byron Duran were taken into custody in January by officers from the California Department of Insurance and Santa Barbara law enforcement.
According to the criminal complaint, the trio broke state insurance codes, took part in workers compensation fraud, denied workers comp benefits, and was guilty of wage theft.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the DA’s Office is seeking anyone employed by United Seal Coating (also known as United Sealcoating and Slurry Seal Inc., United Paving, and Santa Barbara Paving) who thinks they were a victim of wage theft or denied workers comp benefits to contact the office at 568-2300.
All three were scheduled to be arraigned in late January.
