The owner of the Yellow Taxi Company of Syracuse is facing workers’ compensation fraud charges for allegedly using the name of a retired senior citizen to apply for insurance with the New York State Insurance Fund.
According to the North County Gazette, the suspect surrendered to the Syracuse Police Department last month after an investigation in which he was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, offering a false instrument for filing, fraudulent practices, and insurance fraud.
According to investigators, the suspect, who owns and operates the Yellow Taxi Company of Syracuse Inc., allegedly used someone else’s name to apply for workers’ comp insurance from NYSIF by forging that name on his application for insurance. (workersxzcompxzkit)
Investigators said the individual allegedly used the name of an elderly retired man to apply for the insurance apparently concerned about a past incident involving a claim submitted to NYSIF under a workers’ comp policy for Century Taxi which he also owns.
