Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt recently filed two separate fraud charges.
Nicholas Laine Hurt of Oklahoma City and James Cramer of Tulsa both face one count of Workers Compensation Fraud.
Nicholas Laine Hurt, 30–
Hurt, an employee at Cellular Consulting in Edmond, claimed to have broken his tooth while on the job. An insurance claim was filed through AIG. Hurt, a tower technician, told the insurance company he threw a chain over a mount when it swung back and hit him in the mouth, damaging the tooth.
An investigation by the Attorney General’s Office revealed Hurt and his coworkers allegedly created a false story and in reality his broken tooth was the result of an air-soft gun pellet that was shot while the group was allegedly “messing around” while “off the clock.”
Hurt is being charged with one count of workers comp fraud. If convicted, he faces up to 7 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.
James Cramer, 48 –
Cramer was employed by Industrial Oils Unlimited, LLC when he claimed he was injured on the job while working inside a tank. Cramer alleged he fell and twisted his right foot. An insurance claim was filed through AIG.
Investigations by AIG and the Attorney General’s Office revealed Cramer allegedly injured his foot by stepping in a pothole outside Vegas Club in Tulsa.
Cramer is being charged with one count of workers comp fraud. If convicted, he faces up to 7 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.
