New legislation designed to improve safety at a number of workplaces in Nova Scotia will take effect April 1.
The government reports it is streamlining and updating various regulations under the Technical Safety Act. (WCxKit)
The act pertains to businesses and trades workers involved with things such as boilers and fuel burning appliances.
The regulations are also tied to power engineers, crane operators and oil burner technicians.
The president of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia, Carol MacCulloch, says the changes allow new technology to be evaluated and incorporated into buildings and systems more quickly.
The new act, when fully implemented, will replace a number of other pieces of legislation
