The International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions, in collaboration with the Workers’ Compensation Research Institute, announced the publication of the updated Inventory of Workers’ Compensation Laws.
This resource includes detailed comparisons of workers’ comp laws as of July 1, 2008 for the United States, many Canadian provinces, and Victoria, Australia.
The seventeen tables included in the report contain information about laws governing coverage, exclusions and exemptions; medical benefits, lost wage and fatality benefits; coverage of mental stress, cumulative trauma, hearing loss and disfigurement; rehabilitation benefits, advocate and attorney fee provisions; the roles of boards, commissions and advisory councils and the status of Second Injury Funds as of July 1, 2008.
The Inventory of Workers’ Compensation Laws was the result of a partnership between the IAIABC and WCRI to continue the United States Department of Labor’s annual survey, State Workers’ Compensation Laws. The USDOL ended publication of this resource in 2006. The IAIABC/WCRI announced their intent to collaborate and continue the report in the summer of 2007 and the first report was released in April 2008.
Although every effort was made to ensure the characterization of the laws is accurate and fairly stated, it is inherently difficult to summarize complex laws with complete accuracy for all applications of that law. (workersxzcompxzkit)
