If You Are Injured at Home it is NOT a Workers Comp Claim in California

It would seem  a no-brainer a person cannot be injured at home and then collect workers’ compensation.

However, a  California man  was arrested on allegations  he committed workers’ compensation fraud. According to authorities, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with three counts of insurance fraud, one count of attempted perjury, and one count of using a false SSN card and resident alien card.

The individual  reportedly told his employer he injured himself at home and was under the care of a personal physician who placed him on modified duty. The employer advised modified duty was not available and the man should file for state disability.

The employer then received notice the employee was represented by an attorney for a workers` comp claim involving injuries sustained at home. (workersxzcompxzkit)

An investigation  by the insurance company in partnership with Llorente SIU discovered the man had made material misrepresentations in sworn testimony and to medical providers for the purpose of filing a false claim, costing the insurance company more than $40,000.
